A medium-weight jacquard weave that intersperses smooth geometric shapes on a textured background. Both sides can be used as the right side, which gives you the option of using this fabric for patterns like the Chicago Jacket, or the Flatiron.
The fabric has a soft hand and medium weight. It works particularly well for jackets - see the Sterling Jacket (in a different color) shown above. The dark teal lagoon color is quite rich and delicious. It would pair beautifully with other jewel tones like merlot or chocolate.
A Jacquard woven fabric is made on a Jacquard loom, which invented in France in the early 19th century and was the precursor to the modern computer. The Jacquard is able to weave different textures and designs into a fabric, without needing an additional printed element. Fabrics like tapestry, brocade, and damask - along with many others, are created on a Jacquard loom.
